Monmouth County is a dynamic, year-round destination, offering a diverse array of attractions and activities catering to every interest. Each season unveils its distinct appeal, marked by vibrant festivals, cherished local traditions, and abundant entertainment.
The New Year begins with a bang of dazzling fireworks, lively celebrations, Winter sports, basketball, hockey, roller-skating, sledding, icy ocean plunges and Valentine’s Day. Bell Works (Holmdel) center hosts a vibrant indoor environment, public square and active indoor activities.
Spring infuses renewed energy, including St. Patrick’s and Memorial Day parades, spring sports (such as baseball and lacrosse), outdoor activities (porchfests, walks and runs), and Easter.
Independence Day brings fireworks in many towns, and Summer enables seemingly endless days of outdoor adventures, seaside activities and evening entertainment. Car shows, town and beach concerts are held frequently. There are performances at the PNC Bank Arts Center (Holmdel), Count Basie’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre (Red Bank), and the Stone Pony’s Summer Stage (Asbury Park), horseracing at Monmouth Park (Oceanport), many festivals, and the spectacular Monmouth County Fair (Freehold)!
With 26 miles of bay and 27 miles of ocean coastline, ocean waves and gently lapping bays are never far away. The miles of boardwalks, promenades and beaches are popular for swimmers, surfers, walkers, runners and nature enthusiasts. Major ocean beaches include Sandy Hook, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach, Avon-By-The-Sea, Belmar, Spring Lake, Sea Girt and Manasquan. Boardwalks host lively oceanfront amusements, shops, pavilions, arcades, the Convention Center (Asbury Park) and Pier Village (Long Branch).
Near Labor Day and 9/11, Brookdale Community College (Lincroft) and Monmouth University (West Long Branch) resume Fall schedules including sports, soccer, football and more. Town Days and Park Days celebrate Monmouth County’s many resources, rivers, lakes, harbors, inlets, 53 municipalities and the acclaimed Monmouth County Park System.
With Winter nearing, Monmouth County downtowns support holiday festivities, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, town lightings, and the joyous arrival of Santa Claus.
